Just dropping a quick note here to fill you all in on what’s been happening in our corner of the world at Little Rock in the Breede Valley. Mother Nature decided to put on quite a show with intense rains and subsequent floods.
Thank you for all the love and concern that we’ve received. I’m happy to report that we’re faring well, tucked up warm and cosy, with our home and gardens standing strong amidst the turmoil. We’re on Day 3 of the ongoing electricity blackout – we’ve always been quite self-reliant, and we’re making do with some nimble changes.
We know you all love a good nature video, so we have something for you. Yesterday when a rainbow appeared and the skies started clearing, we took some footage of the already receding Jan du Toits River, just a stone’s throw away from us.
The end of the clip pans back over our workshops and buildings, glowing in the setting sun. For those looking closely the high watermark of earlier in the day is visible and for general comparison, I’ve included a picture taken after the rains around this time last year. This river feeds towards the majestic Breede River, just 3km away.
At sunset last night, we decided to explore a bit and took a drive to the nearby Breede River. We captured some incredible footage of that adventure, which we’ve uploaded on YouTube. You can find that link in the comments below.
Stay safe, and keep everyone involved in the clean-up operations in your thoughts.
