I am a vagabond (and what it means to me)
The word vagabond is derived from the Latin word vagabundus, meaning strolling about, roving or wandering. Mirriam-Webster dictionary defines it as a person who wanders from place to place without a fixed home. The top definition in Urban Dictionary calls a vagabond “often homeless” and “Jesus was a vagabond in his mid-thirties and on”.
I define a vagabond, as how I live my life.
For me, vagabonding is a way of living that is only possible due to the freedom I have. Freedom from the normal routine that used to rule my days and freedom from distractions that ruled my mind. To achieve this freedom, I have worked very hard in some areas. In other areas it feels like I have paid a very high price. It is this same freedom that allows me to wander the world searching for the meaning of life and my higher purpose. It is a journey that I have only recently begun and I abide by a few simple principles.
I do not know what new moments in my life will bring and look forward to accepting whatever each new day may offer.
I do not know what my Creator will offer or ask of me. Each day, I always try to look, feel and listen whilst treading softly.
I trust my heart and I accept that wherever I end the day or lay my head, is exactly where I am meant to be.
“When we believe we have all the answers, we are not open to mystery. To begin a mystical journey, you have to start with a sense of wonder, of not knowing where you are going or how you will travel”- Mary Pope Osborne”
