Leatherwork can be a meditative, rewarding experience, and having the right tools makes all the difference. Giving myself the opportunity to practice and try new things, over the past 12 months I’ve made a variety of bags, trinket trays and various other hand-stitched leather items.
Recently, I embarked on a project to create something both practical and charming: mini leather mannequin pin cushions. Standing approximately 30 to 35 centimeters high, these handcrafted beauties combine functionality with a touch of vintage elegance.
Each mannequin is meticulously hand-stitched from leather, ensuring durability and a timeless aesthetic. The base of the mannequin doubles as a pin cushion, providing a convenient and stylish way to keep your pins and needles in one place.
In addition, I have made a variety of accessories to accompany the mannequins, enhancing their usefulness for any sewing enthusiast or simply for display. One of my favourite additions is a leather apron that wraps around the mannequin. This apron features several pockets, perfect for storing needles, thread, and small tools.
Pictured in the gallery below is another favourite accessory, a little leather satchel that hangs from the mannequin. This satchel is ideal for keeping other sewing materials organised and within reach.
These mini leather mannequins are more than just pin cushions; they are a delightful addition to any sewing space or display counter, blending practicality with a unique, handcrafted charm.
