Its with a heavy heart that I accept that Coffee Cat, our adventure cat and my feline friend and companion for the past 6 years is not coming home. It is likely that a mishap happened somewhere outdoors in the bush. There are many predators, including regular recent sightings of a Booted Eagle and nesting Cape Eagle Owls. So with this post I remember this special feline being.
Camping at Coffee Bay Caravan Park, “Coffee Cat” moved in to camp on 26 September 2017. Within a few days she’d made herself comfortable in my car and when I left to continue my travels on 3 October, insisted on coming along. I fully trusted that stopping along the way, that if she left then that was how it was meant to be. She stayed and stuck with me – hopping out at remote picnic sites and petrol stops. Always returning into the front or back of the car. For a long way she slept under the driver seat travelling nearly 5000 kms. We travelled in this way until I returned to Little Rock in Goudiniweg, Breede Valley later that month. There she settled. This special companion and outdoor adventure cat continued to follow freely where ever we walked on the 7 hectare property – always staying close by.
Coffee Cat will be dearly missed. Her spirit will always be here, in my heart and adventuring on Little Rock.
