Originally written in 1865 during the American Civil War and called Carry me back to Tennessee or Ellie Rhee, this is a well-known South African song from the days of the Boer War. It is played on one of my smaller bamboo flutes tuned to A#. The bansuri is of Indian origin and traditionally used in Hindustani classical music. The sunset time-lapse was recorded “near the green thorn tree” on Klein La Rochelle Farm in the Breede Valley, South Africa.
