Sarie Marais (by die groen doringboom)

Originally written in 1865 during the American Civil War and called Carry me back to Tennessee or Ellie Rhee, this is a well-known South African song from the days of the Boer War. This melody was also adopted by the French Legionnaires, as well as the UK Commandos as their marching tune during parades. (Wikipedia)

It is played on one of my smaller bamboo flutes tuned to A#. The bansuri is of Indian origin and traditionally used in Hindustani classical music. The sunset time-lapse was recorded “near the green thorn tree” on Klein La Rochelle Farm in the Breede Valley, South Africa.
